Waco National Sculpture Exhibition brings unique sculptures
by renowned and emerging artists into Waco’s downtown in
order to promote art in public places.
Moontree
by Michelle O'Michael
Michelle O’Michael’s contemporary steel sculpture, Moontree, is in Indian Springs Park along the
banks of the Brazos River. Ms. O'Michael's work has been featured in Sculpture
Magazine, ArtLies, and the Houston Chronicle. She
has been awarded commissions by M.D.Anderson
Hospital in Houston and the Strother Memorial
commission at Baylor Women & Children's Hospital in
Dallas. |

Longhorn Skull
by Joe Barrington
Artist Joe Barrrington of Throckmorton, Texas is best
known for his expertly engineered kinetic sculpture.
Mr. Barrington has received many commissions for
public art projects: most recently, the Lake Ray
Hubbard Transit Station for DART in Dallas; the Mesa
Natural History Museum in Mesa, Arizona; and the Rio
Grande Zoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His work is
included in private and public collections including
the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole,
Wyoming and the Old Jail Art Center in Albany,
Texas. |
Noah

Art Schirer
Mr. Shirer's
work and expertise are sought by curators and collectors alike. Noah
is a playful metal kinetic sculpture. Metal legs grow upwards from the ground supporting a
flowered mobile perched with wireframe cradle. Mr. Shirer's extensive exhibition
record includes galleries and invitational shows
throughout Texas as well as Louisiana, North
Carolina, and Arkansas. |

Windswept

Ben Woitena
The largest piece of artwork, entitled Windswept, is a twenty foot long red steel sculpture by
contemporary Houston sculptor, Ben Woitena.
Delicately posed at the corner of Franklin and First
streets, the sculpture is an exciting accent to the
park landscape. Mr. Woitena’s sculpture is included in renowned art
collections such as the Trammell Crow Company,
Museum of Fine Arts Houston, San Antonio Museum of
Art, and the Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston. |
Waco Cultural Arts Fest is currently raising funds to keep
three works from the 2005- 2006 exhibition in Waco. Please
